Skill	Minimal The student performs 2 of the 4 functions on the GPS unit.	Basic The student performs 3 of the 4 functions on the GPS unit.	Proficient The student can perform the following functions on the GPS unit: 1. Turn on and scroll to desired page 2. Mark a location 3. Choose a waypoint and locate 4. Find present GPS coordinates	Advanced The student can perform all of the functions and teach other students how to use the functions on the GPS unit
Understanding	Minimal Students understand 1 of 3 essential elements	Basic Student understands 2 of the 3 essential elements	Proficient Students understand the following essential elements: 1. To have the GPS operate properly you must be moving 2. The location isn't exact on the GPS. 3. The GPS has to have a clear vision of the sky to recieve a signal.	Advanced Students understand all of the essential elements and can explain to other students.
Participation	Minimal Students are rarely engaged in activities. Redirection and reminders about cooperation are needed more than four times.	Basic Students are engaged in activities and cooperate with their group, redirection occurs two to four times.	Proficient Students are actively engaged in activities and cooperate with their group with rediretion only occuring once or twice.	Advanced Students are activetly engaged in activities and cooperate with their group. No redirection is needed.
