Literature Circle: Listening and Sharing 
The rubric is for use in first grade literature circle meetings. It will evaluate to what level students are prepared for discussion, how well they listen and respect others' input, and how they share by contributing or asking questions during meeting time.

Student contributes by restating what was already said concerning the assigned reading.
Unsatisfactory

Student does not contribute any thoughts or ideas based on the assigned reading.
Questioning

Excellent

Student interacts by asking at least three questions based on the assigned reading or what is being talked about in order to extend the discussion.
Good

Student interacts by asking two questions based on the assigned reading or what is being talked about in order to extend the discussion.
Fair

Student interacts by asking only one question based on the assigned reading or what is being talked about in order to extend the discussion.
Unsatisfactory

Student does not interact with the group by asking questions.
Respecting

Excellent

Student respects others' opinions and is encouraging by verbally acknowledging the effort made by others.
Good

Student respects the opinion of others by listening attentively as noted by positive body language.
Fair

Student does not let others finish when they are talking so he or she can contribute their ideas or is unkind in response to others.
Unsatisfactory

Student ignores what is happening in the group.
