Conversations-Where the Red Fern Grows "Check for Understanding" Role Play You will be put into groups and be asked to create a classroom situation where you would need to use the check for understanding strategies. After creating a short role play, your group will then perform your role play to the rest of the group. Preparation	Broadway Students were on task for all of the planning time of the planning and developed a well thought out skit.	Off-Broadway Students were on task for most of the planning time and developed a well thought out skit.	Basement/Garage Performance Students were off task for the time of planning and didn't develop a well thought out skit.
Presentation	Broadway The performance was clear and exhibited appropriate handling of the characters, situation, and resloution. A clear balance of characterization was evident	Off-Broadway Students made an attempt at an appropriate performance. Characters handled the situation moderately, but there were some imbalances in characterization.	Basement/Garage Performance Students did not grasp a clear and appropriate way to handle the situation or conflict.
Collaboration	Broadway All students in the group worked well together and participated in the planning process and performance.	Off-Broadway Some students in the group worked well together.	Basement/Garage Performance None of the students in the group worked well together.
Appearance	Broadway The group was dressed to fit the character they were portraying.	Off-Broadway The group made efforts to dress appropriately, but one or more of the group members had an incomplete costume.	Basement/Garage Performance The group had an uneven display of costume for presentation. It was unclear as to who some of the characters were.
