Grammar and Mechanics

Does the paper indicate that the writer has control of the rules of spelling, grammar and mechanics

Excellent

The essay contains no errors in usage, and mechanics.
Good

The essay contains 1 or 2 errors in usage, and mechanics.
Fair

The essay contains 3 to 5 errors in usage, and mechanics.
Poor

The essay contains 6 or more errors in usage, and mechanics.
Spelling

Does the paper demonstrate the writer's command of English spelling conventions?

Excellent

The essay contains no errors in spelling.
Good

The essay contains 1-2 errors in spelling.
Fair

The essay contains 3-5 misspelled words.
Poor

The essay contains 6 or more improperly spelled words.
