Scientific Question	Excellent Question is clearly stated and explains the reason for the experiment. The question can be tested.	Good Question is stated but minor details are missing. The question can be tested.	Fair Question is stated but does not fully explain the reason for experiment. The question can be tested.	Poor Question does not relate to experiment. The question can not be tested.
Hypothesis	Excellent Hypothesis is clearly stated and relates to the outcome of the experiment	Good Hypothesis is stated but minor details are missing	Fair Hypothesis is stated but does not fully relate to the outcome of the experiment	Poor Hypothesis does not relate to outcome of experiment
Experiment	Excellent Steps of the experiment are clearly stated so that another person can perform the experiment.	Good Steps of the experiment are stated,minor details missing; hard for another person to duplicate.	Fair Steps of the experiment are unclear/missing; another person would not be able to perform the experiment.	Poor Steps of the experiment are not included.
Analysis	Excellent Student gives detailed and appropriate method to collect and display data. Variables are identified.	Good Appropriate method to collect/display data. Variables mentioned but not correctly identified.	Fair Student gives an inappropriate way to collect and display data some variables present and or control missing.	Poor Student does not include a method to collect and display data control and variables not mentioned.
Conclusion	Excellent Conclusion related to hypothesis. Good data analysis. If hypotheis is "correct" data proves it. If "incorrect" there is discussion as to why it is not supported by data, possible student experimental errors are discussed.	Good Conclusion linked to hypothesis by data but with faulty reasoning and possible errors are not discussed.	Fair Conclusion linked to hypothesis with data but not clearly stated to support or invalidate hypothesis.	Poor Conclusion present but data is not at all discussed.
