The introduction begins to narrow appropriately toward the end.
thesis	Poor Thesis is unclear, too wordy and long. It is vague and provides no specifics. The thesis does not make an argument.	Fair Thesis is almost clear. It is more concise but still a little wordy. It makes an argument but still may be a little vague.	Good Thesis is clear, concise, makes an argument and is not vague.
Body paragraphs	Poor No main ideas in body paragraphs. No supporting evidence and no transition words.	Fair There are some main ideas. There are some supporting evidence and a few transition words.	Good Each body paragraph has a main idea. Each main idea is supported by evidence from research. Each piece of evidence is explained and there are numerous transition words.
Conclusion	Poor Uses the words "conclusion". Does not tie all evidence together to show how it supports thesis.	Fair There is an attempt to tie evidence together and to show how it supports the thesis but it is a little confusing.	Good Clearly ties evidence together and shows how it supports thesis in a clear way.
