The student will carve a linoleum with the subject matter being studied. The student will create an edition of 5 prints including one black ink on white paper and one print over a printed background. Remaining prints can be: different colored inks and papers, blended colors, rainbow rolls, offset layers of different colours

The student makes an effort to complete 5 QUALITY prints, printing extras from which to choose, overprinting offset prints to salvage imperfect prints, experimenting with color, technique and effects.

The student shows some initiative. Completes 5 prints of varying quality. Does no extra prints from which to choose.

The student makes poor use of class time. Excessive absences/tardies. Incomplete edition.
Drawing / carving

level 4

The drawing is superior in skill and concept and fills the spece in a creative or orignal way.

Drawing is legible and competent in skill or concept, yet fills the space in an expected manner.

Drawing is legible but limited in skill or concept. The space is not filled in an interesting manner.<BR>
The work may have smears or stray marks.

Drawing is illegible as an image. The image is messy, smeared, ripped or printed in the wrong format.
Prints/ Print quality

level 4

All 5 prints are turned in and all are of excellent quality. All parts of the image and the edges of the block are crisp and clear. All of the prints are titled, signed, and numbered.
level 3

All 5 prints in the edition are turned in. 4 or more of the prints are of very good quality, with even ink coverage and crisp edges.
level 2

All 5 prints in the edition are turned in. 3 or more of the prints are good quality, with even coverage and crisp edges .
level 1

Fewer than 5 prints turned in. 3 or more prints are messy, damaged or smeared. Prints are over(under)-inked, margins are dirty.
Cooperation/Cleanup

The student is almost always on task in the studio, follows the directions for the project the first time they are given, and cleans up their work area in a timely fashion.
