Poetry Projects Rubric Pre-AP Poetry Portfolio Rubric Poetry Projects Rubric: This project collection is the final assessment in the unit of Poetry. This was a trimester task where students compiled sample poetry with original poetry the use of imagery, figurative language, mood, and rhyming, etc. Poems showcase various poetry styles learned. Poetry Projects Rubric Standards: CCSS.ELA-Literacy.W.5.10 Write routinely over extended time frames (time for research, reflection, and revision) and shorter time frames (a single sitting or a day or two) for a range of discipline-specific tasks, purposes, and audiences. CCSS.ELA-Literacy.W.5.4 Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development and organization are appropriate to task, purpose, and audience.

Requirements	Beginning Most of the collection of poetry does not meet the criteria required.	Developing The collection of poetry is missing 3-4 of the required content or student didn't follow the required format.	Established The collection of poetry is missing 1-2 required contents.	Excelling The collection of poems meets 100% of the required content and format.
Originality	Beginning Work appears to be thoughtless or rushed. Work is very repetitive and ideas seem cliched, impersonal or unoriginal.	Developing The poems are creative, but don't demonstrate a variety of approaches.	Established All poems are creative and thoughtful. They are carefully written, but development or craft could go further.	Excelling Poems are creative and original. It is evident that the poet put thought into their words and conveyed their ideas and emotions.
Literary Devices/Fig. lang.	Beginning The poems did not include any literary devices and no figurative language used.	Developing The poems use some literary devices and figurative language.	Established The poems incorporate several literary devices and figurative language which demonstrates creativity.	Excelling The poems demonstrated varied and appropriate application of literary devices and figurative language which was discussed in class.
Grammar & Punctuation	Beginning There are numerous spelling, diction, and/or grammar errors in the poems.	Developing The poet's intended meaning is muddled by some spelling, diction and/or grammar errors.	Established Some spelling, diction and/ or grammar mistakes are evident, but do not diminish the meaning in poems and/or paragraphs.	Excelling Proper use of modern English spelling, diction and grammar are employed consistently throughout the project.
Attractiveness/Neatness	Beginning The collection of poetry is messy or disorganized. Images are not included or related and does not enhance the project.	Developing The collection of poetry shows some thoughtfulness in their presentation. Images were not related or included but were used to enhance the presentation of the project.	Established The collection of poetry are attractive in terms of design, layout and neatness and 1-2 images are included in the poems. Overall presentation is good.	Excelling The collection of poetry is exceptionally attractive in terms of design, layout and neatness. All images used are related to the poems and enhances the overall presentation of the assessment.
