Locating Information	In Progress You need a lot of help from the teacher or librarian to find information	Basic You have difficulty finding information, and spend way too much time with one source. You only use one source or encyclopedia.	Proficient You have found information from at least three appropriate sources, and needed minimal help from the teacher or librarian.	Advanced You have used more than three sources to find information and are able to independently search and select the best sources.
Jot Notes	In Progress Have minimal relevant information to the topic. Missing clear sub-topics.	Basic Have some relevant information about the topic. Missing one or two sub-topics.	Proficient Have necessary and relevant information about the topic. You divided your research into 3 sub-topics.	Advanced Have all necessary and relevant information, plus extra or interesting facts about the topic. You divided the research into 4 or more sub-topics successfully.
Grammar and Editing	In Progress You have too many spelling and grammar errors. Little or no editing is evident.	Basic You have some spelling and grammar errors. Some editing is present.	Proficient You have very little spelling and grammar errors. Good work of editing the project.	Advanced You have almost no spelling or grammar errors. Excellent editing.
Topic Sentences	In Progress Topic sentence is poor, or missing. Sub-topics are missing topic sentences. A closing paragraph is poor, or missing.	Basic The topic sentence is weak, and does not clearly state the sub-topics. The closing paragraph is weak.	Proficient The topic sentence is clear, and states the sub-topics. The closing paragraph is good.	Advanced The topic sentence is very clear, and outlines the sub-topics in an interesting way. The closing paragraph is informative and creative.
Final Project / Appearance	In Progress Many parts of the project are incomplete or missing. Organization is messy, and have only 1 or 2 relevant graphics.	Basic Some parts of the project are completed satisfactorily. Organization is satisfactory, and have 2 to 3 relevant graphics.	Proficient You have all required parts of the project, and they are neatly organized. All graphics are interesting and relevant.	Advanced You have all the required parts of the project, AND other interesting facts and graphics. The layout is neat and attractive.
