"Biography Bite"
	Score of Five 5 pts	Score of Four 4 pts	Score of Three 3 pts
Person researched	Score of Five Includes name of the person researched and his/her title ("Claim to Fame") --- both as a paper heading and in the paragraph.	Score of Four Missing one or two of the criteria for a "Score of Five."	Score of Three Missing three or more of the criteria for a "Score of Five."
His/her importance	Score of Five Conveys significant information about the person and the reader knows his/her importance.	Score of Four Conveys some information about the person and/or the reader has some sense of his/her importance.	Score of Three Conveys little information about the person and/or the reader is left wondering about his/her importance.
Paragraph Length/Fluency	Score of Five Paragraph is a minimum of seven sentences in length. The sentences flow smoothly and are easy to read.	Score of Four Paragraph is fewer than seven sentences in length. AND/OR The sentences don't flow as smoothly and/or aren't as easy to read as a "Score of Five."	Score of Three Paragraph is not as "reader-friendly" as needed to communicate the ideas effectively.
Spelling	Score of Five Spelling is mostly correct --- even on harder words.	Score of Four Spelling is correct on simple words --- could use a little more editing on harder words.	Score of Three Spelling errors are numerous and distracting.
Capitalization and punctuation	Score of Five Correct capitalization and punctuation guide the reader through the paragraph.	Score of Four Capitalization and/or punctuation are basically correct, but not in trickier places.	Score of Three Numerous errors are present in capitalization and/or punctuation.
Grammar	Score of Five The grammar and usage contributes to the clarity and style of the writing.	Score of Four There are minor problems in grammar and/or usage --- a little more editing needed.	Score of Three The paragraph does not appear to have been edited. Grammar and/or usage errors interfere with meaning.
Presentation	Score of Five Assignment completed and turned in on time. Writing is legible and in blue or black ink as directed.	Score of Four Missing one of the criterion for a "Score of Five."	Score of Three Missing two or more criteria for a "Score of Five."
