Persuasive Essay Persuasive Essay Student persuasive essay that uses facts to back up their argument. Arguments/ Reason	Need Improvement 1 The student lists reasons but does not back up with facts or other support.	Good 3 The student uses some facts to support the argument, but they are not used the entire time. The facts are disputed and may not be accurate or not strongly stated/ expressed.	Excellent 5 The student bases all their arguments on reliable facts that they have researched or proved through their words.
Organization	Need Improvement 1 The student does not have the 5 paragraphs that were part of the directions.	Good 3 The student has the 5 paragraphs, but the student did not follow the order from their thesis statement.	Excellent 5 The student has at least 3 body paragraphs. Each paragraph has one reason stated clearly with 3 facts/ examples that support their reason. Reasons are clearly stated and are convincing.
Introduction Paragraph	Need Improvement 1 The student did not have reasons state or a audience grabbing introduction.	Good 3 The student attempted a audience/ catchy introduction but had errors. The student did not have their three reasons clearly stated in their introduction.	Excellent 5 The student a catchy and audience grabbing introduction. The reasons were clearly stated.
Conclusion Paragraph	Need Improvement 1 The student did not use the main idea to bring their paper to a close.	Good 3 The student used the main idea to end the paper and restated the thesis, but did not restate the ideas clearly.	Excellent 5 The student restated the thesis, showed good narrow to broad organization, and had a creative and original ending.
