Design/Construction
Poor
Rocket not built with suitable materials:
missing components below: fuselage, cone, fins made of cardboard and/or light woods (ie. balsa).
constructed sloppy, unstable and excessive glue, hanging tape
Good
Rocket built with most the requirements of design and materials:
missing only one of components below: fuselage, cone, fins made of cardboard and/or light woods (ie. balsa).
constructed neatly and stable. (semi-solid and glued carefully, some excessive glue).
Excellant
Rocket built with all the requirements of design and materials:
included fuselage, cone, fins made of cardboard and/or light woods (ie. balsa).
constructed neatly and stable. (solid and glued carefully).
Flight Criteria
Poor
Rocket fell apart in flight
Rocket did not launch or fly a reasonable distance/height.
Good
Rocket launched and remained intact with only minor damage throughout flight.
Rocket flew a short but acceptable distance/height along a constant projectory or within reasonable amount of deviation
Excellant
Rocket launched and remained intact throughout flight.
Rocket flew an acceptable distance/height along a constant straight projectory.
Calculations
Poor
Unable to calculate for all the data listed, and/or missing relevant information:
vector components. (launch angle of 45 degrees).
acceleration upon launch. (collected force, time, and mass)
accurate marked flight distance compared with results of distance equation value.
Good
Collected the necessary data, and calculated with some error for:
vector components. (launch angle of 45 degrees).
acceleration upon launch. (collected force, time, and mass)
accurate marked flight distance compared with results of distance equation value.
Excellant
Collected the necessary data, and calculated with accuracy for:
vector components. (launch angle of 45 degrees).
acceleration upon launch. (collected force, time, and mass)
accurate marked flight distance compared with results of distance equation value.
Creativey/Efforts
Poor
Poor use of time in class to construct rocket, and/or working on other tasks then project
No creativity in decoration of rocket
rocket parts store bought not manufactured from acceptable raw materials
Good
Participated in construction during in class lab time.
minimal decoration ie, just paint, no decals wording etc.
some construction from raw materials and completed by students.
Excellant
Participated in construction during in class lab time.
abundant decoration of rockets, (ie. paint, decals, theme etc)
construction from raw materials and completed by students.
