Safe Entry & Exit

A - Advanced

Can Successfully Enter and Exit the pool independently using the previously taught safe entry/exit.
B - Proficient

Can Successfully Enter and Exit the pool independently but requires verbal cues to perform correct technique.
C - Basic

Can Enter and Exit the pool with inproper technique.
D - Below Basic

Requires assistance to either Enter or Exit the pool.
Floating

A - Advanced

Can independently perform both a front and back float
B - Proficient

Can independently perform both a front and back float but requires assistance to get started. (on top of the water).
C - Basic

Can perform a front and back float with minimal assistance
D - Below Basic

Can perform a front and back float with a lot of assistance
Streamline gliding

A - Advanced

Can successfully and independently kick off and glide in a perfect streamline position.
B - Proficient

Can successfully and independently kick off and glide in an almost perfect streamline position.
C - Basic

Requires minimal assistance to kick off and glide in a streamline position.
D - Below Basic

Requires assistance to perform a streamline glide.
Submerging and object retrieval

A - Advanced

Can successfully and independently submerge and retrieve objects from the bottom of the pool.
B - Proficient

Can successfully submerge and retrieve objects from the bottom of the pool with minimal assistance.
C - Basic

Can submerge under water but can not retrieve objects from the bottom of the pool.
D - Below Basic

Is not comfortable submerging face in the water.
Kicking & Strokes/skills

A - Advanced

Can successfully and independently perform freestyle kick with pull or catchup arms.
B - Proficient

Can successfully perform freestyle kick with pull or catchup arms using a kickboard or noodle.
C - Basic

Can perform freestyle kick with assistance and attempts to use arms to pull water.
D - Below Basic

Requires assistance whilst attempting to kick with a paddle board.
