Basic requirements	Excellent Project contains: -five defining moments/quotes -a graph that indicates character's direction -A paper from each group analyzing the defining moments.	Fair Project is missing one of these requirements	Needs improvement Project is missing more than one of these requirements
Defining moments	Excellent Project contains five logical defining moments that are labeled on the chart. Each moment is quoted accurately or paraphrased clearly.	Fair Project contains five moments, but one or two do not meet the criteria of "defining moment." Some errors in quoting or paraphrasing.	Needs improvement More than two moments do not meet the criteria of "defining moment." Many errors in quoting or paraphrasing.
Student papers	Excellent Paper clearly explains the ways in which each defining moment affected the character.	Fair Paper explains each defining moment, but leaves out important details that would help the reader understand.	Needs improvement Paper does not explain each defining moment, or explains them in a way that is difficult for the reader to follow.
Effort	Excellent Group members used time wisely. Chart and papers are free of convention errors in standard grammar and punctuation. Chart appears polished and easy to understand.	Fair Students were occassionally off task. Chart contains some convention errors and/or appears slightly rushed.	Needs improvement Students did not use time wisely. Chart contains several errors and/or looks unpolished and difficult to read.
