Poor Examples do not explain or clarify the essay's generalization to the intended readers	Fair Examples minimally explain or clarify the essay's generalization to the intended readers.	Good Examples explain or clarify the essay's generalization to the intended readers but do not qualify as excellent.	Excellent Examples explain or clarify the essay's generalization to the intended readers in a clear and efficient manner.
Logical Order Are the examples within each paragraph arranged coherently?	Poor The examples within the paragraphs and/or throughout the paper are not arranged in a logical order. Fair Essay contains many errors, most are not distracting to the reader.	Good Essay contains a few errors, but they are not distracting to the reader.	Excellent Essay contains one or two errors.
Word Usage Does writer use vocabulary appropriate to the essay.	Poor Word usage is informal and/or inappropriate to the essay.	Fair Word usage is appropriate but lacks sophistication expected in word choice for this essay.	Good Word usage is appropriate but does not qualify as excellent.	Excellent Word usage is appropriate for the essay and reflects sophistication on the part of the writer.
