Setting	Poor The student does not describe the correct time or place of the novel.	Fair The student describes the correct time but the wrong place or the correct place but the wrong time for the novel.	Good The student describes the correct time and place in detail.
Characters	Poor The student cannot name the correct characters.	Fair The student names the characters but did not accurately describe them.	Good The student names the main characters and accurately describes them.
Resolution	Poor The student does not identify the correct resolution.	Fair The student identifies the correct solution but does not describe it correctly.	Good The student identifies the correct resolution and accurately describes it.
Turning Point	Poor The student does not identify the correct turning point.	Fair The student identifies the correct turning point but does not describe it correctly.	Good The student identifies the correct turning point and accurately describes it.
Illustrations	Poor The student uses no effort or color in the illustrations.	Fair The student uses effort and some color in the illustrations.	Good The student uses much effort and color in the illustrations. The illustrations clearly represent the plot and turning point.
