Poetry Portfolio Project 
Students select original poetry pieces to include in their culminating project. They also include a bio of their favourite poet and some of his/hers works with an explanation for inclusion in their portfolio. Students also write a poetry reflection.

The project is unorganized and has no title and no table of contents. The portfolio is not neat or attractive. Very little care and thought have been displayed. There are many grammar and mechanical errors. Many of the components as per the checklist have been omitted.
Level 2 (60-69%)

The project is somewhat organized; it may have a title and some form of a table of contents. The portfolio is somewhat neat, but little attractiveness. Some little care and thought have been displayed. There are some grammar and mechanical errors. Some of the components as per the checklist may be omitted.
Level 3 (70-79%)

The project is organized; it has a title and a table of contents. The portfolio is very neat and attractive. Care and thought have obviously been displayed. There are few grammar and mechanical errors. Most of the components as per the checklist have been included.
Level 4 (80-100%)

The project is highly organized; it has creative title and a table of contents. The portfolio substantially neat and attractive in its design. Great care and thought have obviously been displayed. There are no/minor grammar and mechanical errors. All of the components as per the checklist have been included.

Not enough poems have been included. Poems are not creative; do not have any poetic devices; do not follow poetry guidelines. Illustrations are omitted.

Only a few poems have been included. Poems are somewhat creative; only have a few poetic devices; follow some poetry guidelines. Some illustrations are included.
Level 3 (70-79%)

Most poems have been included. Poems are creative; many poetic devices; follow poetry guidelines. Many illustrations are included.
Level 4 (80-100%)

All poems have been included. Poems are very creative; poetic devices enhance meaning; follow all poetry guidelines. Illustrations are included which enhance the poetry works.

Highly relevant information from research is displayed with great care and thought. Selected poems by the poet were included with thought. Poet's bio is thorough, yet concise about his/her life and works. Minor or no errors.

Many poetry elements are identified and described. The student shows his/her personality and this portion of the project is described with many details demonstrating understanding of poetry.
Level 4 (80-100%)

Many poetry elements are identified and described in great detail. The student's personality comes through the project. The student has taken the assignment and clearly has completed it in a unique form demonstrating his/her depth of poetry.
