Social Studies Poster and Research Rubric 
Students will create a written report and a poster. The poster will contain information about an important Missourian. The poster will include a time line, 2 illustrations, and 5 important facts about the person. The poster should be creative and eye catching. The paper will include a bibliography with research credit from at least 3 resources. The resources may include books, magazine articles, or websites.

The work was done with good effort that shows what the learner is capable of. It is evident that time was put into this poster and presentation.

The work done exceeds all expectations and shows that the learner is proud of his/her work. The effort that was put into this task is the best it can be by the learner.
Creativity

Not very appealing. Limited use of creative materials. Not alot of color/shapes/design. Most of the drawings/writing is the student's own.

Eye catching. Great use of colors, texture, shapes, and spacing on poster. Artwork is the students own & is neat. Writing is easy to read. Shows the student can express ideas above and beyond requirements.
Research Paper Content

Little information from fewer than 3 resources. Some information may be guesses or even tall tales. Missing bibliography. More than 10 misspelled words. Much of it may be copied from the resources.
Basic

Missing bibliography. Fewer than 5 facts listed about the Missourian. More than 8 misspelled words. Some parts sound copied from the resources.
Proficient

Paper is neat and easy to read. Five or fewer misspelled words. Sentence length is varied and the writer carefully chose the words which would be create pictures in my mind. The writer used 3 different resources to find a lot of information.
Advanced

Paper is well written and the ideas have come from 3 or more resources. Juicy words were chosen to create pictures in my mind. The final draft may have one misspelled word. The author carefully listed their resources in the bibliography.
