Dexterity	Poor Student holds instrument/mallet improperly, preventing successful production of sound.	Fair Student holds instrument/mallet incorrectly but manages production of sound.	Good Student holds instrument/mallet correctly and properly, producing the desired sound.
Coordination	Poor Student does not/is not able to play/strike the instrument properly, failing to produce the desired sound.	Fair Student is able to play/or strike the instrument but with some inaccuracies and inconsistencies.	Good Student plays/strikes the instrument properly, producing a pleasant and appropriate sound with consistency.
Respectful Care	Poor Student treats instrument/ components negligently with disregard to value, jeopardizing the integrity and wholeness of the instrument/ component. Personal instruments are rarely/never cleaned.	Fair Student is clumsy with instrument/ components, though not willfully negligent. Personal instruments are not regularly cleaned.	Good Student treats instrument/ components with care and respect, being careful not to damage any part and placing components in their proper places. Personal instruments are regularly cleaned.
Reading Notation	Poor Student does not play any recognizable portion of the song.	Fair Student plays a portion of the song accurately, but other parts are unclear.	Good Student plays the song correctly with minor rhythmic and melodic inaccuracies.
