Principles of the Constitution 
Students will pair up and choose one of the 6 Principles of the Constitution(Limited Government, Popular Sovereignty, Separation of Powers, Checks and Balances, Federalism and Judicial Review). They will then find an example of the on the National evel and then either a local(Collinwood/Cleveland) example or show how the National example effects the local area. These findings will be presented on posterboard with a title, definition, pictures and or articles to make the connection.

The principle picked by student is clearly defined in a way that if presented to a person with no knowledge that they could obtain understanding.

The student defines the principle clearly and in detail, presenting the topic as if it is being explained to a person with no knowledge of the topic so that they could obtain understanding. It is clear cut, yet thorough.
Example of Principle

The students did not choose an example.
Poor

The example of the principle is old and irrelevant.
Fair

The example may be old but it shows slight relevancy, making it hard to connect.
Good

The example is contemporary and shows mild relevancy, making it possible to make connections to the local area.
Advanced

The example is contemporary and shows relevancy making it easy to show strong connections to the Cleveland area.
Superior

The example is contemporary and shows extreme relevancy making it easy to show strong connections to the Cleveland and Collinwood area.
Local Connection of Principle

Unacceptable

There is no local connection made to the principle chosen.
Poor

The writing or article used to connect with the national example makes little to no connection and is poorly constructed.
Fair

Either the writing or article used to connect with the national example makes little to no connection OR it is poorly constructed.
Good

The writing or article makes a local connection. The writing is of decent quality or the article may be too short.
Advanced

Either the writing or the article makes a direct and significant connection from the principle chosen to the Collinwood area, if written, it is neatly constructed.
Superior

Either the writing or the article makes a direct and significant connection from the principle chosen to the Collinwood area, if written, it is neatly constructed.
Grammar/Punctuation/Neatness.

Unacceptable

There is no attempt made to check grammar/spelling and the project looks messy.
Poor

There are over 5 mistakes made between grammar and spelling, the project looks messy.
