Identify a problem	Poor Student is unable to identify the problem.	Fair Student identifies the basic problem but is unable to give details or explanation.	Good Student identifies the basic problem and can give some details and explanation.	Excellent Student quickly identifies the problem with specific details and explanation.
Break Down	Poor Student is unable to create steps to solve problem.	Fair Student creates steps to solve problem, but steps are too large or disorganized.	Good Student breaks down the problem into steps that are mostly manageable and achievable.	Excellent Student breaks down the problem into specific achievable and manageable steps.
Hypothesis/Obstacles	Poor Student is unable to create a hypothesis or identify obstacles.	Fair Student has difficulty creating a hypothesis or hypothesis lacks in logic, and/ or has difficulty identifying obstacles	Good Student creates a simple hypothesis and can identify few obstacles	Excellent Students creates a logical and detailed hypothesis and identifies multiple obstacles.
Solve	Poor Student is unable to establish a viable solution.	Fair Student reaches an incorrect or irrelevant solution.	Good Student reaches a solution that is relevant or correct, but may have some flaws.	Excellent Student reaches a viable and relevant solution.
