Interview Book Report Interview Short Story/Book Report After reading the book, write a script interviewing one of the characters from the book. Introduction and Conclusion	Excellent The interview had a strong opening and concluding question/answer that captured the audience and made it easy for them to follow. There was a greeting and a closing.	Good The interview had an opening and concluding question/answer that captured the audience. There was a greeting and a closing.	Fair The interview did not necessarily have an introduction or conclusion OR the order of questioning was not logical.	Poor There was no logical opening, closing, or flow to the interview.
Answers	Excellent Answers demonstrate a deep understanding of the character’s life and personality, main idea, and setting.	Good Most questions were answered and demonstrated an understanding of the character, main idea, and setting.	Fair Some questions were answered and demonstrated some understanding of the character, main idea, and setting.	Poor Does not respond to the questions and shows little understanding of the character, main idea, or setting.
Examples	Excellent Gave examples from book to support answers.	Good Usually gave examples from book to support answers.	Fair Rarely gave examples from book to support answers.	Poor Did not give examples from book to support answers.

Fair Voice was inconsistent; usually did not consider the character in their written responses.	Poor Little or no voice was present. Student did not think about the character in their responses.

Organization	Excellent The question and answer portion followed the correct format. Answers were longer than five sentences.	Good The questions and answer portion somewhat followed the format. Most of the answers were in paragraph form and at least five sentences.	Fair The question and answer portion is in the incorrect format and most of the answers are not at least five sentences.	Poor Is in the incorrect format and none of the answers are in the correct format.

Word Choice	Excellent Used a variety of words to adequately convey the intended message of the reflection.	Good Used somewhat of a variety of words to convey the intended message of the reflection.	Fair Little variety in word choice. Didn’t adequately convey the message intended.	Poor Highly repetitive word choice with little or no descriptive language.
Conventions	Excellent Contained few if any errors in conventions that made the writing easy to read and understand.	Good Contained some convention errors that do not interfere with the meaning.	Fair Contained frequent convention errors that are noticeable and slow or confuse the reader.	Poor Contained so many convention errors that the writing is difficult to follow.
