Reading & Performing Rhythms - GRADE 1/2 
Students will read & clap 4-beat rhythm patterns consisting of quarter-note, eighth-note and resting beats. Students will repeat heard rhythm patterns using appropriate rhythm syllables ("ta", "ti-ti", "rest").

Student reads and claps four 4-beat rhythm patterns with no more than 3-4 errors; clapping keeps steady beat but does not consistently match rhythm syllables.
LEVEL 3 - B

Student reads and claps four 4-beat rhythm patterns accurately or with minimal errors; naming of rhythms accurately matches clapping.
Exceeds Expectations

Student reads and claps 4-beat patterns using "ta", "ti-ti" and rest accurately; naming of rhythms accurately matches clapping.
Repeating & Identifying Rhythms

Students will listen to 4-beat rhythm patterns and repeat them while naming rhythm syllables.

LEVEL 1 - D

Student does not accurately repeat heard rhythm pattern; is unable to name rhythms using rhythm syllables; clapping does not match rhythm syllables.
LEVEL 2 - C

Student repeats heard rhythm patterns but is inconsistent in naming rhythm figures; clapping keeps steady beat but does not consistently match rhythm syllables.
LEVEL 3 - B

Students consistently repeats heard rhythm patterns ("ta", "ti-ti") while accurately naming rhythm syllables.

Student consistently repeats heard rhythm patterns ("ta", "ti-ti" & "rest") while accurately naming rhythm syllables.
