Conent Analysis	Poor Lack of original ideas and inability to ask engaging questions of the subject matter.	Fair Introduces some new ideas to the study of the subject matter, but for the most part stays within existing knowledge of the topic.	Good Presents an original approach to the topic. Successfully introducing new ideas that build on and expands well-known assumptions about the subject matter.
Written Communication	Poor Lack of clear thesis/main argument. Inability to use transitions, topic sentences, and paragraphs in order to organize ideas and evidence in a coherent structure. Excessive typos; lack of proper documentation of sources. None or irrelevant sources.	Fair Broad or underdeveloped main thesis/argument. Inconsistent use of transitions, topic sentences, paragraph breaks resulting in a sense of random organization of ideas. Moderate typos. Some appropriate bibliographic sources and documentation.	Good Clear, concise, and original thesis/main argument. Strong organization throughout assignment using transitions, topic sentences, paragraph breaks that seamlessly connects different ideas to build final argument. Strong and engaging prose; none or very few grammatical/spelling errors. Appropriate bibliographic sources whose purpose is evident in written content; and correctly cited throughout assignment.
Peer Response/Review	Poor Lack of thought-provoking insight and feedback to peer's work. Failure to conduct a close read of classmate's work resulting in inability to give detailed response.	Fair Provide some feedback in response to specific issues brought up in peer's work, but mostly engaging on a surface level that does not help classmate take their research further.	Good Conduct close read of peer's work offering specific comments and suggestions. Help classmate to make larger connections beyond the assignment by asking asking questions that provoke future research.
