-Breath support for singing is inconsistent.
-The student attempts to use the head voice or uses it for part of the selection.
-Mallet grip is close to correct with teacher prompts.
-Most fingers cover the holes on the recorder, but there are enough that don't that producing a good tone is difficult.
Meets standards

-Posture is correct with a small inconsistency or gentle teacher prompt.
-Breath support is adequate to produce a full tone and proper phrasing with one or two small exceptions.
-The student uses the head voice while singing.
-Mallet grip is correct.
-All fingers cover the wholes on the recorder with one or two minor "squeaks."
Exceeds standards

-Posture is exemplary and consistent, with no prompting from teacher.
-Breath support is full enough to produce a full tone and proper phrasing throughout the selection.
-The student uses the head voice while singing.
-Mallet grip is correct.
-All fingers cover the wholes on the recorder and all pitches are produced correctly.
