Value Lesson Grade 2 Value Lesson-1st grade Students discuss value and its importance in artwork. Using a variety of materials, they create a collage using different values from light to dark on a piece of drawing paper. Selecting Colours	Poor Student did not create value on the paper.	Fair Student created very little value using two different colours.	Good Student created a light and dark area using more than 3 different shades of a colour.	Excellent Student created a spectrum from light to dark.
Drawing	Poor The drawing lacks almost all detail (regular or irregular shapes, lines, values of colour) OR it is unclear what the drawing is intended to be. Student needs to work on control.	Fair There is with very little use of shading or shapes (regular or irregular shapes, lines, values of colour). There is little overlapping of shapes. Student needs to improve control.	Good Adquate use has been made of shading and shapes (regular or irregular shapes, lines, values of colour). There is good overlapping of shapes. Student has basics, but has not gone beyond expectation.	Excellent Shapes and shading are used to add interest to the drawing. Placement of shapes is well planned to show overlapping. Student has great control and is able to experiment a little.
Time and Effort	Poor Class time was not used wisely and the student put in no additional effort.	Fair Class time was not always used wisely, but student did do some additional work.	Good Class time was used wisely. Student could have put in more time and effort.	Excellent Class time was used wisely. Much time and effort went into the planning and design of the collage.
