No diagram included
Approaching expectations
Student provided small diagram that did not match the model.
Minimally meets expectations
Student provided diagram. Diagram may be incomplete, unclear in displaying the circuit, or not using the proper symbols.
Meets expectations
Student provided circuit diagram. Diagram uses proper symbols and includes a symbol key. Diagram accurately shows the circuit used in the model.
Exceeds expectations
Student provided circuit diagram showing great detail. Diagram is neat, tidy, and thorough. Diagram accurately shows the circuit used in the model.
Model: Operation
Does not meet expectations
No wiring included in the model or no model included.
Approaching expectations
Wiring does not work.
Minimally meets expectations
Wiring either works intermittently or is working only on part of the circuit.
Meets expectations
Wiring is complete and working.
Exceeds expectations
Wiring is complete, working, and tidy. Switches are easy to operate and are model sized.
Model: Circuit
Does not meet expectations
No circuit included in the model or no model included.
Approaching expectations
Model wired using a series circuit only. No switches are included.
Minimally meets expectations
Model wired using a parallel circuit only. Switches are included.
Meets expectations
Model wired using a series and parralel circuit. No switches are included.
Exceeds expectations
Model wired using a series and parralel circuit. Switches are included and working.
Model: Appearance
Does not meet expectations
No model included
Approaching expectations
The model is very messy and carelessy constructed. Has only one bedroom model item. Model is either far too large or far too small.
Minimally meets expectations

No written content included
Approaching expectations
Is missing one of the written content areas (circuit explanation and electrical flow explanation), is weak in both areas, or information is plagiarised.
Minimally meets expectations
Includes description in student's own words of both the written content areas (circuit explanation and electrical flow explanation), but the explanation is lacking detail.
Meets expectations
Includes adequately detailed description in student's own words of both the written content areas (circuit explanation and electrical flow explanation).
Exceeds expectations
Includes thorough, detailed information both of the written content areas (circuit explanation and electrical flow explanation) that goes beyond what is included in the textbook. May also include detailed information on electricity, electrical sources, electrical devices, etc.
Use of class time
Does not meet expectations
No class time used; had to be removed from classroom to prevent student from distracting others.
Approaching expectations
Wasted most of class time; consistently off-task; usually came to class without materials
Minimally meets expectations
Much of class time was wasted; usually off-task; frequently came to class unprepared to work
Meets expectations
Some class time wasted; usually on-task; occasionally forgot materials or needed to retrieve supplies from locker
