Assessing Student Mastery Assessing Student Thinking/Mastery Through Math Notebooks This rubric is based on students math notebook having these catagories: Classwork and Vocabulary, Homework, Assessment, and Reflection. It is also meant as an admin tool to look vertically and horizontally at teachers' work with their students. Notebook Set-Up & Organization	ADVANCED Awesome! Math Notebook is organized and contains 100% of the sections needed for mastery: i.e. FOLDABLES (in a colorful/creative way that maximizes retention of standards) and CORNELL NOTES (complete and on the correct pages). Table of Contents is 100%current and up-to-date.	PROFICIENT Good Job! Math Notebook is mostly organized and contains at least 80% of the sections needed for mastery: i.e. FOLDABLES (in a colorful/creative way that maximizes retention of standards) and CORNELL NOTES (complete and on the correct pages). Table of Contents is at least 80% current and up-to-date.	APPRENTICE Need more effort! Math Notebook contains at least 60% of the appropriate sections - little effort taken to be focused on student retention of information and daily practical use of notebook.	Novice Keep trying! :) Math Notebook contains 50% or less of the needed sections to be of benefit to students in their daily math lives.
