Design	Poor The student did not use an original idea to create their design and did not incorporate geometric shapes. It is not a pattern.	Fair The student's design was one that has been seen before. There were geometric shapes, but it could be more creative.	Good The student's design was original, creative, and one of a kind. Geometric shapes make up part of the design.
Symbolism Enter description	Poor The student did not have any personal symbolism in their quilt pattern.	Fair The student had only one symbol that meant something in their quilt pattern.	Good The student had multiple meanings in their quilt pattern.
Use of Materials Enter description	Poor The student did not cover the entire square. White of the paper is showing. Or- the work is sloppy.	Fair The student used both watercolor and crayon, but it could have been neater.	Good The student was able to use watercolor and crayon and did so with mastery of skill.
Artist Statement	Poor The student did not write an Artist Statement.	Fair The student wrote an Artist Statement, but was not able to fully explain their personal symbolism.	Good The student wrote and Artist Statement and was able to fully explain the meaning of their quilt pattern.
Effort and Attitude	Poor The student did not take the assignment seriously.	Fair The student had a good attitude, but could have worked harder.	Good 100% Effort and 100% Good Attitude
