Grammar and Spelling	Beginning Brief exhibits numerous grammatical errors and spelling mistakes. Brief is not suitable for submission.	Developing Brief has between 3-5 grammar and/or spelling mistakes that do not affect the overall quality of the brief in a serious manner.	Accomplished Brief has between 1-3 minor grammatical or spelling errors that do not affect the overall quality of the paper submitted.	Exemplary Brief has no grammatical or spelling errors present.
Organization/Formatting	Beginning The brief is disorganized and lacks any clear coherence, whatsoever. Brief is not suitable for submission.	Developing Brief is suitable for submission, but lacks clear focus and is disorganized.	Accomplished Brief clearly addresses the issue and is organized well, but may feature minor structural issues such as improper placement of thesis statement.	Exemplary Brief is well-structured and free of any formatting mistakes/errors.
Content/Research	Beginning The brief lacks any evidence of research and does not provide pertinent information related to the issue area. Not suitable for submission.	Developing The brief only features research from 1 or 2 sources and does not offer much information. Brief may include personal opinions of the author.	Accomplished The brief features research from 3-4 sources, documented, and provides a reasonable amount of information to the reader. Brief is devoid of personal opinions of the author.	Exemplary The brief features research from more than 4 sources, documented, and provides excellent info to the reader.
