On Task	Highly Effective Is always on task and focused, practices assigned music, and shows exemplary focus.	Effective Maintains focus and stays on task most of the time during class, but sometimes strays from assigned music.	Developing Has learned some of the music and stays on task and focused some of the time.	Beginning Has only learned a small amount music in class due to time off task.	Unsatisfactory Has learned very little music due to a majority of time spent off task.
Materials	Highly Effective Always has course materials, including reflection log, pencil, scales sheet, and any assigned music that is not in the book. Keeps materials neat and organized.	Effective Generally has all necessarily course materials, but forgets an item 1-2 items over the course of the week.	Developing Sometimes has all necessarily course materials, but forgets an item 3-4 items over the course of the week.	Beginning Frequently forgets course materials.	Unsatisfactory Frequently does not hold music up Rarely has course materials.
Overall Effort	Highly Effective Maintains focus on music and director at all times, pays attention and always tries their best. Practices with proper technique at all times.	Effective Student generally tries hard but has an occasional lack of effort. Sometimes lapses in proper playing or practicing technique.	Developing Student demonstrates some effort, but shows clear need for improvement. Does not practice with proper technique.	Beginning Student rarely puts forth the effort necessary for the course.	Unsatisfactory Is frequently lost in music and puts forth minimal effort in class.
