Carrying the Puck

Student loses puck off the stick blade often and switches from left hand to right hand.

Student loses puck off the stick blade often.
Proficient
Student keeps puck touching the blade of the stick.
Advanced
Student keeps puck in center of blade and can move along the floor keeping stick/puck contact.
Dribbling
Beginning
Student loses puck off the stick blade often and switches from left hand to right hand.

Loses control of puck often.
Proficient
Student can use short taps or pushes with moderate control of the puck.
Advanced
Student can use short taps or pushes to manipulate the puck with their head up (student can "feel" the puck on the stick) with complete control of the puck.
Stick Handling

Student only uses one side of the stick blade.
Developing
Can not change direction without losing control of the puck.
Proficient
Can control the puck enough to change direction.
Advanced
Keeps the puck in front while keeping head up and using short taps on the stick. Uses both sides of the blade.
Safety
Beginning
Does not carry the stick in a safe manner and high sticks more than 3 times in a game.
Developing
Sometimes uses the stick in a safe manner and high sticks 2 to 3 times in a game.
Proficient
Usually uses the stick in a safe manner and high sticks no more than 1 time in a game.
Advanced
Always holds the stick in a safe manner, and never high sticks.
Teamwork & Effort
Beginning
Refuses to participate in games.
Developing
Does not follow rules and is not a good sport. Does not try.
Proficient
Tries to follow game rules but does not always display good sportsmanship.

Follows game rules and is a good sport. Always tries hard during activities.
