Descriptive Language	Excellent Descriptive words are used effectively to describe the topic and appeal to all five senses.	Good Many descriptive words are used to describe the topic and appeal to the senses	Fair An attempt at descriptive words was used to describe the senses; however, the "sense" language was not fully developed.	Needs attention Few or simple descriptive words are used in the paragraph. Minimal or no appeal to the five senses.
Strong Verbs	Excellent Student chooses exceptional verbs to enhance writing. Word choice paints a picture for the reader	Good Student uses strong verbs to enhance writing piece.
