Friendly Letter Format Heading, Greeting, Body, Closing, Signature	Poor The work is not a friendly letter. It does not follow the friendly letter form.	Fair The work is in the form of a letter, but the writer may not have used all five parts of the letter form.	Good All five parts of the friendly letter and are used correctly.	Excellent All five parts of the friendly letter are in place and used correctly.
Length	Poor The letter is not divided into paragraphs and does not contain enough detail.	Fair The letter is missing either complete topic, paragraph, or detail.	Good The letter has three paragraphs that may need more support in places.	Excellent The writer has three distinct paragraphs, each with its own topic and 4-5 sentences long. Details support each paragraph topic.
Voice	Poor The letter does not show evidence of voice.	Fair The letter shows voice although it is not supported.	Good The letter shows voice but the reader may question how the writer is feeling in parts.	Excellent The letter has a strong voice. It is evident how the writer is feeling.
