Connectedness Understands the goals for reading and taps into prior knowledge when necessary. Makes connections, predictions and inferences in passages.	Poor Unable to tap into prior knowledge to make connections. Unable to make connections, predictions or inferences.	Fair Sometimes taps into prior knowledge, but cannot always make connections, logical predictions or inferences.	Good Good ability to tap into prior knowledge. Usually able to make connections, predictions and inferences.	Excellent Strong ability to tap into prior knowledge. Always able to make connections, predictions and inferences.
Comprehension Self-corrects and re-reads when necessary to gather meaning.	Poor Unable to self-correct to gather meaning. Does not re-read if meaning is lost.
