Basketball Unit Skills Assessment This rubric will be used to assess students' skills at the end of our beginner basketball unit. 8 points are required to pass the unit Rubric Code: E24C54W By liamcarrick7 Ready to use Public Rubric Subject: Physical Ed., Fitness Type: Assessment Grade Levels: 9-12

Basketball Skills

Passing Proficiency	Poor The student displays an unacceptable lack of passing skills. - The student is unable to complete any of the 3 types of passes with accuracy	Fair The student displays an acceptable amount of passing skills. - The student is able to complete some of the 3 types of passes with accuracy	Excellent The student displays an exemplary amount of passing skills. - The student is able to complete all of the 3 types of passes with accuracy
Defensive Proficiency	Poor The student displays an unacceptable lack of defensive skills. - The student is in a incorrect defensive position, feet not shoulder width apart, knees not bent, arms not out	Fair The student displays an acceptable amount of defensive skills. - The student is in a correct defensive position, with only minor corrections needed	Excellent The student displays an exemplary amount of defensive skills. - The student is in a correct defensive position, feet shoulder width apart, knees bent, arms out
Shooting Proficiency	Poor The student displays an unacceptable lack of shooting skills. - 0-4 free throws made - incorrect shooting position, knees not bent, ball not in shooting pocket	Fair The student displays an acceptable amount of shooting skills. - 4-6 free throws made - correct shooting position, with only minor corrections needed	Excellent The student displays an exemplary amount of shooting skills. - 8-10 free throws made - correct shooting position, knees bent, ball in shooting pocket
Dribbling Proficiency	Poor The student displays an unacceptable lack of dribbling skills. - The student is unable to maintain control of the basketball - The student looks at basketball entire time	Fair The student displays an acceptable amount of dribbling skills. - The student does not lose control of the basketball more than 3 times - The student sometimes looks at basketball	Excellent The student displays an exemplary amount of dribbling skills. - The student never loses control of the basketball - The student never looks at the basketball
