Communicates constructively

Teams need people who speak up and express their thoughts and ideas clearly, directly and with respect for others and for the work of the team — in a positive, confident, and respectful manner. Therefore communicating constructively as a team member.

Excellent

All team members are communicating their ideas related to the problem with fellow members questioning for understanding, using concrete examples and reflecting the information being shared.
Moderate

The group is on topic with most members communicating their ideas towards finding a solution to the problem.
Ineffective

Discussion is occurring within the group. It is somewhat on topic with most of the members communicating to solve the problem.
Listens actively

For effective communication and problem solving, team members need the discipline to listen first and speak second. Teams need team players who can absorb, understand, and consider ideas and points of view from other people without debating and arguing every point. Such a team member also can receive criticism without reacting defensively.

Excellent

Team members are actively engaged in listening to each member. This is observed as each idea that is presented, is discussed as a viable solution. Members use concrete examples, reference previously used strategies, and methods to agree/disagree with the solution. The idea is discussed by each member prior to moving to the next member sharing his/her solution/idea.
Moderate

The members are waiting for their turn to speak. They each share their agreement and/or disagreement related to the problem assigned to the group.
Ineffective

The group is actively discussing the problem with people simultaneously sharing thoughts often having members statements interrupted.
Functions as an active participant

Team members who function as active participants take the initiative to help make things happen, by being prepared, offering input and assume responsibility for tasks inherent within the assignments.

Excellent

Team members agree to participate in specific roles based upon the personal strengths and personalities of each member. Each person has a critical role within the group which is necessary for the groups success. Each person plays a leadership role in contributing his/her individual component.
Moderate

Members have decided who will assume roles in the group and discussed several possible outcomes to the target problem.
Ineffective

The group has an identified leader who decides what the solution will be for the group.
Works as a problem-solver

Positive problem solving has effective team players who are open to all kinds of solutions. They're problem-solvers, who collaborate with others to find solutions and form positive action plans.

Excellent

The team consider multiple solutions utilizing concrete examples, references from their notes as well as linking the solution to previously learned topics within multiple disciplines. The solutions are backed by systematic evidence which proves its credibility.
Moderate

The group thoroughly discusses solutions to the problem.
Ineffective

The people in the group vote on the best solution.
Treats others in a respectful and s

Team players treat fellow team members with courtesy and consideration — not just some of the time but consistently. They show understanding and the appropriate support of other team members to help get the job done. They listen, and share information. Good team players also have a sense of humor and know how to have fun but they don't have fun at someone else's expense. Quite simply, effective team players deal with other people in a positive, respectful manner.

Excellent

The team understands the value of each person as an individual with unique thoughts and ideas. Respect is demonstrated through the active designation of task which highlight each members area of expertise. Team members actively discuss and listen to each person's thoughts and ideas. Disagreements are welcome and each opinion is given the time necessary to prove and or disprove the members solution by using concrete examples and using concepts previously taught within multiple disciplines.
Moderate

The team is respectful to each member by taking turns and positively reinforcing each persons contribution.
Ineffective

The group enjoys working with each member and the discussions are pleasant and friendly.
