Including asymmetry, a diagonal, and thirds. Thirds can be literally divided or using foreground, middle ground, and background.
Fully Meeting

The student used some some of the elements of composition but there lacks a good balance of weight. The addition of another element would help their work. For example the addition of a middle ground. Or for a diagonal, something higher in the corner to lead the eye across the page. Or there are gaps in the work that keep the viewers eye stuck in one spot.

Students sky is a clear expression with blending that includes a whole spectrum of values. Clouds are masterfully created. Clouds showing not just one color but several to enhance the depth and perspective in relationship to one another.
Fully Meeting

Clouds and sky do have expression but with a little more attention to details they could be better crafted.

Trees have a good transition from root to top of the trunk. Branches also have a transition from large to small as they extend to the tip. There are shadows and highlights on the tree trunk an branches. There is a cast shadow of the tree on the ground. Leaves do not hide the branches but you can still see the branches through the leaves. Top of tree has highlights and shadows.
Fully Meeting

Trees have a good transition from root to top of the trunk. But in places the transition could be better. Branches also have a transition from large to small as they extend to the tip. But, in some places they could be better. There are shadows and highlights on the tree trunk an branches. But, in some places they are missing. There is a cast shadow of the tree. The leaves do not separate but hide the branches.
Meeting

Trees have a transition from root to top of the trunk. But in places the transition could be better. Branches have very little transition. . There are shadows and highlights have little consideration in the work. Leaves hide branches and do not have much separation in depth.
Minimally Meeting

Tree trunks need a transition. Branches have very little or no transition . There are shadows and highlights have little consideration in the work. Leaves hide branches and do not have much separation in depth.

However, there are other areas that do not work in the art. Instead they are a distraction to the overall piece. These areas were talked about in critique.
Meeting

Artwork has at least two parts of composition, the colors and textures work relatively well together. But, there are large gaps in artwork that do not contribute to the harmony of the art piece.
Minimally Meeting

The work has random areas that do not connect to the rest of the painting.
Student has areas that need more attention and detail in order to contribute tot the overall unity of the piece.
