The student did not watch the teacher during the demonstration and failed to listen to directions, which was evident in their lack of knowledge on knowing what to do during the lesson.

The student paid minimal attention during the instructions and class demonstration. The student had to be reminded of instructions repeatedly and had to be redirected often inorder to know what to do during the lesson.

The student paid attention during the instructions and class demonstration. The student only needing reminding of instructions a few times and only had to be reminded to remain on task occassionally, but seemed aware of what to do during the lesson.
Great

The student listened to the instructions and watched the demonstration attentively. The student followed all directions and remained on task throughout the lesson. The student was focused and transitioned from one exercise to another with little distraction.
Excellent

The student listened attentively to the directions and watched the demonstration, asking questions and actively participating in the discussion. The student followed all directions and remained on task with no reminders, transitioning from one exercise to another without losing focus.
Effort and performance

The student did not put any effort into trying to play tennis. The student refused to try to perform any of the racquet and ball skills and was unable to to remain on task.

The student put very little effort into the tennis lesson. The student gave up easily and failed to perform more than one of the racquet and ball skills. The student had to be reminded numerous times to remain on task.

The student put forth a good effort during the lesson, attempting all racquet and ball skills . The student remained on task and completed the entire lesson with the class.

The student put in a great effort and remained positive during the lesson. The student performed all racquet and ball skills at the correct times and remained aware of foot placement and eye contact with the ball.
Excellent

The student put their very best effort forward and remained positive and encouraging throughout the lesson. The student performed all actions at the appropriate times and as demonstrated by the teacher. The student performed all the ball, backhand and fore hand swings, racquet and ball skills remaining conscious of foot placement and maintaining eye-contact with the ball.
Behavior & social responsibility

Poor

The student had a very poor attitude and refused to participate with the class as directed. The student was not considerate to others and did not follow safety rules.
Fair

The student had a poor attitude during the lesson, and only wanted to play with a few of the other classmates and had conflicts with several others. The student did not remain conscientuous of others and had to be reminded of the safety rules more than once.
Good

The student had a good attitude during the lesson and played well with the others in the class. The student was conscious of the safety rules and followed them as directed.
Great

The student had a great attitude and was proud of the effort they made. The student worked well with their classmates and remained aware of the safety rules and follwed them as directed, making an effort to avoid hurting others.
Excellent

The student had an excellent attitude during the lesson, proud of their actions and encouraging of others actions as well. The student worked well alone and with their partner. The student remained aware of others and made sure to avoid hitting or colliding with classmates during the exercise and reminded others to do the same. The student was considerate of others and a good sport to all.
