Poem Theme Praises a Subject	Clear Evidence Student expresses praise for one or more subjects and the subject(s) are clearly defined. There is a clear theme that keeps the poem on track	Partial Evidence One subject is stated but not well developed. Theme is addressed but poem loses focus and is not constant in the poem	No Evidence Subject is not expressed clearly. Theme is not present	SCORE
Length	Clear Evidence The ode written is 15 or more lines long.	Partial Evidence The ode is 10-14 lines long.	No Evidence The ode is less than 10 lines long.	SCORE
Eloquent Language	Clear Evidence Language is dignified and eloquent. There is no repetition of words, but synonyms are visible. Examples of sensory language.	Partial Evidence Language is mostly dignified and eloguent. There is repetition of eloquent words. Evidence of sensory language.
