0-2 sentences formed using the future tense. Student shows very little ability to use the future tense. Although student tries to use future tense, the sentences are grammatically incorrect and contain numerous errors.
Fair

2-3 sentences used in the future tense. Student shows little ability to use the future tense. Sentences formed in the future tense contain multiple errors in formation.
Good

4-5 sentences formed correctly using the future tense. Student shows good ability to use the future tense correctly with few mistakes.
EXCELENTE

5 or more sentences formed correctly using the future tense. Student shows mastery of the use of the simple future tense.
STORY LINE

Poor

Student shows very little ability to describe the pictures that are depicted in the prompt. Student only speaks about the animals collectively. Student cannot speak specifically about the animals and cannot describe what the animals are going to do.
Fair

Student is able to tell a small portion of the story line. Student can speak specifically about two or three of the animals. Student can tell what two of the specific animals are going to do. Most of the sentences address the animals collectively.
Good

Student can clearly tell the story with some errors. Student can speak specifically about most of the animals and can tell what most of the animals want to do. Student addresses the animals collectively and individually.
EXCELENTE

Student can clearly and articulately tell the story line. Student addresses almost all of the animals individually and tells what they want to do. Student can tell what the animals are going to do collectively as well.
VOCABULARY USAGE

Poor

Student clearly demonstrates a lack of ability to use the necessary vocabulary to describe the picture. Student frequently uses English or Spanglish to describe the picture.
Fair

Student shows an ability to use minimal vocabulary. Student possesses limited vocabulary that allows him/her to describe the story in a broken or choppy manner.
Good

Student possesses the ability to use the necessary vocabulary to describe the picture and tell the story. Student uses past vocabulary as well as new vocabulary.
EXCELENTE

Student possesses great ability to use the necessary vocabulary to describe the picture and tell the story. Student uses past vocabulary as well as new vocabulary. Student uses circumlocution to describe when word is not known.
GRAMMAR USAGE

Poor

Student demonstrates numerous and pervasive vocabulary and grammar errors that keep listener from understanding the story. Student cannot use present tense or future tense correctly. Student cannot conjugate verbs correctly.
Fair

Numerous grammatical and vocabulary errors exist that make it difficult for listener to understand parts of the story. Student uses some present tense correctly and uses minimal future tense.
Good

Some grammatical and vocabulary errors exist, but they do not prevent listener from understanding the story line. Student uses some present tense and future tense correctly. Student shows adequate mastery.
EXCELENTE

Very few errors in grammar and vocabulary exist. These errors do not prevent listener from understanding the story line. Student is able to use future and present tense correctly and switches easily from one to the other.
PRONUNCIATION

Student demonstrates numerous and pervasive pronunciation errors that keep listener from understanding. Student struggles to pronounce even common words correctly.
Fair

Numerous errors in pronunciation exist that make it difficult for listener to understand parts of the story. Student mispronounces some common words.
Good

Some errors in pronunciation exist, but they do not prevent listener from understanding the story line. Most of the words are pronounced correctly.
EXCELENTE

Very few errors in pronunciation exist. These errors do not prevent listener from understanding the story. Words that are mispronounced are words we have not learned.
