Art - Exploring Line - Fall Still Life
Students are introduced to the line work of Van Gogh, Durer & Rembrandt and various other line techniques. Students create their own line drawing that shows shape, texture and tone.

No care or very little care was given to application of line.<BR>
Line was sloppy or quickly sketched in.
Fair
Line was sometimes drawn with sensitivity and variation but was not consistently interesting or was impatiently applied in some areas. There was no use of the details in the lighthouse, land or sky to create a sense of dimension.
Good
Student used some variation of lines to portray the land, lighthouse sea and sky which amounted to an interesting effect. Tone was added in some areas to give depth and add texture.
Excellent
The student used many aspects of detail of the objects that created a much heightened sense of realism. Different styles of line add to the richness and interesting effect, including details on the lighthouse, grass and sea etc.
Craftsmanship/ Finish
Poor
Media is used incorrectly or without refinement, drawing is unfinished or appears messy and needs attention. Presentation has not been considered.<BR>
Student did not use class time wisely. Had to remind student to stay on task on a constant basis.<BR>
The project was completed with minimum effort.
Fair
Media is used fairly well but could be improved or cleaned up. Some areas of the drawing may need further attention. The student finished the project, but it could have been improved with more effort.
Good
Media is used carefully and skillfully and the drawing is completely finished. Student used class time well. The student worked hard and completed the project, but with a little more effort it might have been outstanding.
Excellent
Student used class time to their advantage.<BR>
The project was continued until it was as complete as the student could make it; gave effort far beyond that required; took pride in going well beyond the requirements.

Hand outs are missing. Folio is generally untidy. Sketching activities are not complete or missing. Art terminology is incomplete or missing.

Some hand out activities are missing or stuck in the wrong order. Art terminology is present though messy and missing in parts. Sketching activities are not complete and/or missing.

All hand out activities have been stuck in. Art terminology is present though not properly titled. Sketching activites have been rushed but are all present.
Excellent
All hand out have been stuck in. Art terminology is neatly written and titled. All sketching activities have been completed well and done with care.
