Some basic organization is evident in this project. There was little or no detail and they did not effectively develop ideas. Thumbnail sketches weak.

Organization used was evident, however more detail was required to effectively develop ideas. Thumbnail sketches contributed to projects overall success.
EXCELLENT

Organization for project was stellar and completed in detail. A lot of thought has gone into potential ideas. Thumbnail sketches were well thought out.
CONSTRUCTION

The artist book was not constructed well. Pages, objects and/or images were not adequately attached/put together.
FAIR

The student has made an attempt to construct the artist book well, however, inappropriate materials, lack of attention to detail and/or an inappropriate construction techniques have been used.
GOOD

The student has constructed a functional and generally well constructed artist book. However, more attention to detail would improve the quality of the construction
EXCELLENT

This artist book is well constructed. Pages, images and materials are all securely attached and the structure is sturdy.
IDEA/THEME

POOR

Little thought was put into the theme of this artist book and it was not developed thought the book. No rhythm or sequencing is seen. Completed work is literal and uses no literary devices such as metaphors.
FAIR

Some thought was put into the theme of this book. However, the theme didn't develop in a logical order throughout the artist book and the theme was not always made evident through words or images. Little use of literary devices such as metaphors.
GOOD

The student has put a fair amount of effort into developing the theme and idea of this artist book. The theme unfolds in a logical order and is consistently carried throughout the artist book, solid use of rhythm and sequencing is evident throughout. Use of literary devices such as metaphors seen.
EXCELLENT

This artist book has a highly creative theme which is well developed in a logical and concise manner. The student has used creative concepts to illustrate the theme. Excellent sense of rhythm and sequencing in work. Excellent use of literary devices such as metaphors seen.
TECHNIQUES

POOR

Little use of printmaking techniques have been used to compliment images and develop a theme
FAIR

Limited use of printmaking techniques have been used, however these do not relate to images or concepts and the techniques selected did not complement the design or the book.
GOOD

This artist book uses most all of the printmaking techniques in an effective manner. Although technique selection is not always appropriate, it generally complements the images and assists in the theme development. The techniques selected work well with the design of the book.
EXCELLENT

This artist book incorporates cleverly selected prinmaking techniqes. Words and sentences come from diverse sources and relate to the theme in both blatant and abstract ways. The techniques selected also complement other design choices made throughout the book.
EFFORT

POOR

Little effort was made to complete the artist book project. Time management was extremely poor.
FAIR

Some effort was made to complete the task, although a lack of motivation was evident. Time management was a source of why the overall project did not score better.
GOOD

The student was motivated and worked well. Time management was well paced and the project was completed on time.
EXCELLENT

The student was highly motivated to produce high quality work. Extra time was spent working on this project out of school hours. The energy of this student was a motivation to fellow classmates.
