Sources	Poor One or no sources are quoted and don't really help the story to flow.	Fair Two sources are quoted and marginally help the story.	Good Three or more sources are quoted. Their quotes make sense and help the story.
Expert	Poor No coaches, teachers, or any other experts are interviewed or quoted.	Fair At least one coach, teacher, or other expert is interviewed and quoted.	Good All coaches, teachers, or other experts are interviewed and quoted.
Quotes	Poor There are no quotes are or quotes are bland and random.	Fair Quotes are adequate and sometimes support the information in the article.	Good Quotes are meaningful and used to support the information in the article.
Research	Poor Obviously, no additional research was done.	Fair Some additional research may have been done.	Good Evidence of ample research done.
Hard Copy and File	Poor No story was handed in, nor was story in the computer file.	Fair Only one thing was handed in - either a copy of the story or it is in the computer file.	Good A hard copy was handed in AND the story is in the CORRECT folder in the newspaper file.
