Organization	Poor The piece is hard to follow.	Good The piece is easy to read but the genres being used may not be clear.	Excellent The piece is easy to read and it is clear which genres are being used. There is logical order to the piece.
Focus	Poor The topic is not evident in the piece.	Good The topic is supported with some details.	Excellent Everything in the writing supports the topic with details that enhance the writing.
Detail Information	Poor There are no references to the play or novel studied.	Good The writing only makes general reference to the play or novel studied.	Excellent The writing contains elements from the play or novel studied.
Creativity	Poor There is a lack of creativity which detracts from the impact of the topic.	Good The piece demonstrates some creativity but no real risks were taken.	Excellent The piece is visually appealing or makes effective use of genres for impact.
Conventions	Poor Writing contains many grammatical and spelling errors which distract the reader.	Good Writing may contain few grammatical and spelling errors	Excellent Writing is free of grammatical and spelling errors.
