Use of illusion - Lines drawn across paper using ruler - Student used curved lines to create the illusion - Shapes go from large to small and vice versa	Advanced The background is successful in following the convex/concave pattern to create the illusion. There are 4 convex lines and 5 concave lines in the pattern, repeating 3 times. All 4 circles are different sizes.	Proficient The background attempted to follow the convex/concave pattern to create the illusion. Some mistakes found. Two circles are the same size.	Developing The background does not have four convex lines. The background does not have five concave lines The circles are not different sizes.	Beginning The artwork is incomplete.
Use of colored pencils and shading - the majority of the picture is neatly filled with color - the majority of the artwork is correctly shaded using the blending technique	Advanced Colors are contrasting and applied neatly. Shading gradient is smooth.	Proficient Shading gradient is somewhat smooth, some "scratchiness" evident.	Developing The coloring looks "scratchy" in appearance- looks rushed in completion.
