Grid Drawing	Poor	Fair	Good Use a T-square accurately to measure 1x1' boxes on photo and 4x4' boxes on final paper. All lines are straight; 1-2 are slightly crooked.
Using a viewfinder	Poor	Fair	Good Correctly use viewfinder to draw image from 1' box to 4' box. Placement of image is flawless in box; 1-2 mistakes in entire grid drawing.
Number Tints/Shades	Poor	Fair	Good Match and number light and dark areas from photo to final portrait correctly. All tints/shades are used in portrait; 1-2 may be missing.
Monochromatic Painting	Poor	Fair	Good Mixing of tints/shades is accurate. Can see various values of color; 1-2 may be too close in range.
Paint Application	Poor	Fair	Good Application of paint is clean and neat. No messy brush marks; outlining of each light/ dark area is neat; 1-2 smudges is seen, but does not take away from portrait.
