Log and Bag
	Poor/None 0 pts	Below Average 2 pts	Average 5 pts	Above Average 8 pts	Superior 10 pts
Reading log	Poor/None There was no reading log provided.	Below Average The student had an incomplete reading log.	Average The student did not keep an accurate account of in-class readings but did record dates for reading of the entire book.	Above Average The student completed the reading log for all in-class readings but did not include outside readings.	Superior The reading log was filled out correctly for all days of in-class reading and for outside readings.
Bag	Poor/None There was no bag provided.	Below Average The bag provided did not relate to the story in any way.	Average The student gave an explanation for the use of the bag, but it was an illogical correlation.	Above Average The bag was decorated to represent the story but could have been a little neater.	Superior The bag was either decorated or in some way represented the story.
Reading and Items

In-class reading	Poor The student never brought his/her novel to class and usually wasted time by talking, sleeping, drawing, etc.	Below Average The student rarely brought his/her book to class and had to be called on numerous times for not reading during the allotted time.	Average There were numerous times that the student did not bring his/her book to class, and he/she had to be called on a few times for not reading during the allotted time.	Above Average The student did not bring his/her book to class several days but did read during the allotted time.	Superior The student had his/her novel almost every day and read the entire time that students were allotted for reading.
Five items	Poor No one will receive a zero in this section. I will not accept a project with none of the items.	Below Average All five items in the bag represented the same thing. OR There were less than three items provided.	Average Five items were in the bag, but several of them represented the same thing.
