Student displays poor diction. Most words are incorrectly pronounced.

Initial Technique
Student displays poor instrumental technique. Student does not strike, hold, or play appropriately

Developing Diction
Student could use some improvement on overall diction. Only around half of the words are pronounced clearly and correctly

Developing Technique
Student displays appropriate technique sometimes

Proficient Diction
Most (80%) of the words are pronounced clearly and correctly.

Proficient Technique
Most of the time the student uses appropriate instrument technique, but not always

Distinguished Diction
All words are pronounced correctly and clearly.

Distinguished Technique
Instrument technique is correct 100% of the time

Student is generally distracted and may be a distraction to the entire rehearsal process. Teacher reminds student continually about what is expected during a rehearsal.

Student is on task and giving effort 50% of the time. Teacher frequently reminds this student about what is expected during rehearsal. After the reminder, the student regains focus.

Student is on task and giving effort 80% of the time. Teacher gives an occasional reminder to this student about what is expected during rehearsal. After the reminder, the student regains focus.

Student is on task and giving effort 100% of the time. Teacher does not need to remind this student about what is expected during rehearsal.
