Captures the Readers Interest	Strong Engages the reader with an interesting introduction that makes the reader connect with the story and the character.	Good Adequately engages the reader.	Satisfactory Makes an attempt to engage the reader.	Beginning Needs to improve with trying to engage the reader or establish the context of the story.
Establishment of the plot	Strong Establishes a situation, plot, persona, point of view, setting, conflict, and resolution; Develops complex characters.	Good Provides an adequately developed plot. Characters are adequately developed.	Satisfactory Student has attempted to establish plot and chatacters.	Beginning The plot requires further development. Characters development in progress.
Organization	Strong Creates an organizational structure that balances and unifies all narrative aspects of the story.	Good Shows a clear attempt at organization that comes close to unifying the story.	Satisfactory Lacks focus and a controlling idea; however, digressions and/or abrupt shifts in the response may interfere with meaning.	Beginning Student is working towards organizing narrative story.
Style and Fluency	Strong The ideas are clearly and effectively developed; writing is fluent and polished with effective transitions.
